Monrovia, Liberia - In its continuous effort aimed at supporting human capacity development in the country, the Liberia Macroeconomic Policy Analysis Center (LIMPAC) at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning has contributed more than LD$2 million to support financial aid schemes of the University of Liberia Student Union ULSU and other campus-based organizations at the state-owned University of Liberia for the ensuing semester of academic year 2018/2019.

Buchanan, Grand Bassa - The Government of Liberia through the Office of the Comptroller and Accountant General of the Republic of Liberia with support from the African Development Bank (AFDB) has conducted a three-day workshop aimed at improving the preparation of IPSAS compliant financial reporting for all spending entities.

Monrovia, Liberia - In its bid to enhance the assessment and analysis of the economy, as well as the quality of economic forecasting to adequately inform fiscal policies, and in order to continue to improve the technical capacities of technicians at the Ministry, The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Monday, July 3, 2018, officially dedicated its first-ever economic forecasting and training lab with support provided by the African Capacity Building Foundation.

Monrovia, June 29, 2018 - The World Bank Group Executive Director for Liberia, Mr. Andrew N. Bvumbe, arrives in Liberia on Saturday, June 30, for a five-day official visit. During this visit, he will be discussing opportunities to promote growth, value additions and economic diversification. The Executive Director will visit project sites.

Monrovia, Liberia - The Government of Liberia and World Bank have signed a grant agreement totaling US$11.07 million.
According to the Grant Agreement, the Grant will provide a four-year support to Liberia’s Getting to Best in Education Project and will specifically aim at improving equitable access to Early Childhood Education (ECE), teachers’ quality in ECE and primary education, as well as, strengthening national school accountability systems.

Let me on behalf of President George Manneh Weah and the Government and People of Liberia thank the Member States of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, of the Council of Europe as well as the Coordinating Body of the Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters for the invitation extended to Liberia to accede to the Convention. Liberia’s signing this Convention confirms the country’s robust commitment to international cooperation on a variety of fronts. Considering that Liberia is already a member of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, it comes as no surprise that we signing this Convention.

Accra, Ghana - The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, with support from the Liberia Embassy in Ghana, through its Ambassador, H.E. Genevieve A. Kennedy, has conducted a two-day Diaspora Consultative Meeting with Liberians at the Buduburam Refugee Camp in Accra, Ghana, and also with Liberian Business Entrepreneurs at the Liberia Embassy in Accra.

The Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning and Governance Commission with support from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is conducting nationwide national development planning regional consultations towards formulating the “Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development” (PAPD).

On Thursday, May 3, 2018, the European Union Cooperation with Liberia expanded to additional areas of partnership as new programmes were launched for education and civil society for a combined value of EUR 24 million (USD 29 million).

Monrovia, Liberia - Minister of Finance and Development Planning Hon. Samuel D. Tweah, Jr at the head of the Liberian delegation at last month’s IMF/WB Springs Meeting in Washington DC, USA from April 16-22 has secured the renewed commitment of USD 210 million from the World Bank Group to support government’s pro-poor development agenda.

Monrovia, Liberia - The Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Monday April 23, 2018 launched the National Development Sectorial Consultations towards Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PADA). The consultations are scheduled to take place from April 23-27, 2018 at the Paynesville Town Hall in Paynesville City under the theme ‘’Promoting a Participatory Development Planning Process ‘’.

Tweah, Jr. Wednesday April 11, held meetings at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning with the leadership and cross section of the membership of the business community with the aim of identifying general and specific challenges confronting the business environment in the country and exchanging ideas and suggestions to resolve them in order to improve the economic conditions of the Liberian people.
