Monrovia, Liberia -  Liberia has been designated to host another session of the delocalized ECOWAS Parliament Meeting in Monrovia from 27th to 31st August 2018. In April 2017, a similar parliamentary event was held here from 10th to 14th April. In preparation for the holding of the event, a high powered ECOWAS Technical delegation is expected to arrive in Monrovia on Thursday, August 23rd, 2018.

Monrovia, Liberia - The Liberia Macroeconomic Policy Analysis Center (LIMPAC) at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning with support from the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) has completed circle one of its capacity building training program. The first circle training, which lasted over the period of three weeks, focused on the usage of MS-Word for report writing and Ms. Excel for data calculation and analysis attracted trainees and employees from different departments and units of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning.

To Stimulate Growth of Intellectual Excellence at Nation’s Highest Institute of Learning
Monrovia, Liberia - Finance and Development Planning, Minister Hon. Samuel D. Tweah, Jr., has expressed the need for the re-birth of intellectual excellence at the country’s highest institution of learning, the University of Liberia.

Deputy Finance Minister for Economic Management Augustus J. Flomo has expressed the need for China to transfer its knowledge and skills in helping Africa to alleviate poverty, as the continent make efforts to achieve the SDG Pillar I by 2030.

Buchanan, Grand Bassa - The Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact Eligibility Team has held a two-day retreat in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County from August 10-11 in order to engage in participatory strategic planning involving members of the MCC Compact Eligibility Indicator Technical Working Group to review the FY17-18 Indicator Performance Plans and develop strategies for the FY18-19 MCC Compact eligibility program activities.

Monrovia, Liberia - The Government of Liberia and MBH limited have signed an agreement valued at US $18.5 million Euros, amounting to US$ 21.5 million for Lot 1 of the Consolidation of Monrovia Electricity Transmission Project.

Monrovia, Liberia - The Government of Liberia through the Macroeconomic Policy Analysis Center (LIMPAC) at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning with support from the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), and the African Capacity-Building Foundation (ACBF) will shortly provide capacity-building training for 60 Liberian women entrepreneurs and women in agriculture from September 19th to 21st, 2018.

Monrovia, Liberia - The Minister of Finance and Development Planning Hon. Samuel D. Tweah, Jr. on behalf of the Government of Liberia and the French Ambassador Terrence Wills along with the Director of the French Development Agency Bruno Leclerc both representing the French government have signed a 5 million Euros financing agreement that will provide budget support to Liberia.

The African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) has reaffirmed its support to the rebuilding process of Liberia under the current leadership of President George Manneh Weah. Making the promise during a side meeting with Liberian delegation at the 27th Annual meetings of the Board of Governors of the ACBF held in the Cameroon Capitol of Yaoundé, the ACBF’s Executive Secretary, Professor Emmanuel Nnadozie expressed his gratitude to the people of Liberia for the orderly and peaceful 2017 elections, which ushered in the democratic regime of H.E. George Manneh Weah.

Monrovia, Liberia - In its continuous effort aimed at supporting human capacity development in the country, the Liberia Macroeconomic Policy Analysis Center (LIMPAC) at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning has contributed more than LD$2 million to support financial aid schemes of the University of Liberia Student Union ULSU and other campus-based organizations at the state-owned University of Liberia for the ensuing semester of academic year 2018/2019.

Buchanan, Grand Bassa - The Government of Liberia through the Office of the Comptroller and Accountant General of the Republic of Liberia with support from the African Development Bank (AFDB) has conducted a three-day workshop aimed at improving the preparation of IPSAS compliant financial reporting for all spending entities.

Monrovia, Liberia - In its bid to enhance the assessment and analysis of the economy, as well as the quality of economic forecasting to adequately inform fiscal policies, and in order to continue to improve the technical capacities of technicians at the Ministry, The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Monday, July 3, 2018, officially dedicated its first-ever economic forecasting and training lab with support provided by the African Capacity Building Foundation.

Monrovia, June 29, 2018 - The World Bank Group Executive Director for Liberia, Mr. Andrew N. Bvumbe, arrives in Liberia on Saturday, June 30, for a five-day official visit. During this visit, he will be discussing opportunities to promote growth, value additions and economic diversification. The Executive Director will visit project sites.

Monrovia, Liberia - The Government of Liberia and World Bank have signed a grant agreement totaling US$11.07 million.
According to the Grant Agreement, the Grant will provide a four-year support to Liberia’s Getting to Best in Education Project and will specifically aim at improving equitable access to Early Childhood Education (ECE), teachers’ quality in ECE and primary education, as well as, strengthening national school accountability systems.

Let me on behalf of President George Manneh Weah and the Government and People of Liberia thank the Member States of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, of the Council of Europe as well as the Coordinating Body of the Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters for the invitation extended to Liberia to accede to the Convention. Liberia’s signing this Convention confirms the country’s robust commitment to international cooperation on a variety of fronts. Considering that Liberia is already a member of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, it comes as no surprise that we signing this Convention.
